Dubai is amongst the worst hit when it comes to summers, and the hotter the weather gets, the more you seek resort at home. The household naturally falls victim to the “I’m bored blues”. Kids feel that their only resort to the summers is being glued to the idiot box, but it is not true.
Constant watching of movies and television can suck away originality, energy, and the innocence of the kids. Kids can do a lot of thing that can keep them busy. Let their creativity and imagination flow, and see the wondrous activities that come out of it. Some of the activities your kids can be involved in are given below:
1. Read a book: “Books are your best friends.” This is what my grandma taught me and I believe it stands true even today. Either read a book together, or simply let your little one pull a book off their choice.
2. Get busy with home chores: Children are inquisitive by nature. They love putting their hand in anything and everything. Why not make the best use of it? It will be an ideal indoor activity for your kid. For instance, they can do some dusting, washing of plates, etc.
3. Collage and craft: You can treat Origami as one of the ideal summer indoor games. Kids can be kept busy for hours together. Give them sheets of paper, some colours, some pictures, and they can put up a beautiful collage. They can even be taught some basic origami and then leave them to experiment some more new crafts.
4. Play treasure hunt: Consider some odd spots around your house, or place some treasures in different rooms and on shelves and ask your little one to find it. You could help by making a list of all the objects you have hidden. This will help them read better and learn about new items.
5. Make a pillow house: Use as many pillows as you want and make a house out of it. You can even make use of newspapers. It is a complete makeover for your house, a series of secret passageways and snuggly corners, just the thing for those summer days!
